 During 1981 and into 1982 the US line-up started to differ from the UK/ROW issues. As early as 1978 several obsolete models were issued as 'ROMAN NUMERAL' Limited Editions for the US market, but these were extra to the 1-75 range. The Hong Kong models of 1981-82 were issued in place of UK made models as it was felt they would appeal more to American children/collectors. In 1982 the US and UK catalogues showed many differences, 30 different models in the US range and quite a few with different numbers from the UK issues. During 1982 the models came in generic picture boxes or on card.
